Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Stephanie Tintner LCSW

Hello! I’m Stephanie

My approach to therapy is holistic- meaning I understand that your emotional and mental health are often intertwined with multiple aspects of your life. I pride myself on my ability to make my clients feel understood and heard while helping them navigate the challenges life throws at us. I view counseling as a chance for you to have a safe space to express yourself and as an opportunity to have a partner who will help you feel like the best version of yourself. I believe in an approach that allows you to see your strengths and feel that for therapy to be successful, it’s essential to connect with clients.

I often take a direct approach to my work and love to sprinkle in humor during sessions. Therapy can be a scary leap for someone to make, and my goal is to ensure my clients feel entirely supported. I’ve been in those shoes, sitting with a “stranger” and feeling like you’re expected to tell them your story; that’s pretty damn intimidating.

I’m here to take things at whatever pace you are comfortable with. My job as a therapist is to help guide you through a process that brings you back to a feeling of balance in life. I often do that by asking you questions and helping to provide different perspectives on situations, thoughts, and feelings you are experiencing. At the end of the day, I’m just a real person helping other real people.

My Background

My passion for helping people started with the geriatric population and their loved ones. I have over a decade of experience working in healthcare and corporate positions. My experience includes hospice, palliative care, home health, adult day centers, senior living environments, and I’ve consulted with multiple companies to create social work and supportive care programs.

Throughout my professional experiences, I have always valued the connections and resources I have been able to provide to people through challenging times in their lives. After feeling the corporate burnout that so many of us experience, I made the exciting decision to open my own practice!

One of the advantages of choosing to work with me is that I have personal and professional experience with the support services I specialize in. You should never have a session with me and leave feeling as though ” I don’t get it” because I have likely had personal experiences or extensive professional experience with similar challenges you are facing. It’s vital that you feel heard, respected, supported, and cared for in our work together.

My Education

I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work from Aurora University. I have also advanced my knowledge and skills by becoming a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) and a Board Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA). I’m a strong advocate for continued education and pride myself on staying up to date on best practices in clinical work. I have specialized training in the following modalities:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP)
  • Psychological First Aid

Under the No Surprises Act

Notice to clients and prospective clients:

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and healthcare facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.

This form may be used by the health care providers to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program (uninsured individuals), or individuals who are enrolled but not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage (self-pay individuals) of their right to a “Good Faith Estimate” to help them estimate the expected charges they may be billed for receiving certain health care items and services. Information regarding the availability of a “Good Faith Estimate” must be prominently displayed on the convening provider’s and convening facility’s website and in the office and on-site where scheduling or questions about the cost of health care occur.

To use this model notice, the provider or facility must fill in the blanks with the appropriate information. HHS considers the use of the model notice to be good faith compliance with the good faith estimate requirements to inform an individual of their rights to receive such a notice. Use of this model notice is not required and is provided as a means of facilitating compliance with the applicable notice requirements. However, some form of notice, including the provision of certain required information, is necessary to begin the patient-provider dispute resolution process.

NOTE: The information provided in these instructions is intended only to be a general informal summary of technical legal standards. It is not intended to take the place of the statutes, regulations, or formal policy guidance upon which it is based. Readers should refer to the applicable statutes, regulations, and other interpretive materials for complete and current information. Health care providers and facilities should not include these instructions with the documents given to patients.

As a client of Total Wellness Partners, while you will have been given a verbal Good Faith Estimate of the cost of services, you may request one in writing at any time. To do so, please notify Total Wellness Partners in writing of this request and one will be provided to you. Only clients may make this request.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
